Our members
Our members work across both farming and winemaking. They care for old vineyards, make wines from them, and help keep these sites in production for as long as possible.
There are 130+ members in the Old Vine Project.
Together they farm more than 5 417 hectares of certified heritage vineyards across South Africa.

Each year, over 350 certified heritage wines are registered from these vineyards.
Certification & Trust
Producers can certify old vine vineyards and wines with the Old Vine Project (OVP) and apply Certified Heritage Vineyard seals to their bottles, identifying the planting date of the vineyard the wine comes from. These vineyards are verified through the South African Wine Industry Information System (SAWIS) database, which dates back to 1900.

The quality of wines made from old vines is recognised globally, with award-winning examples coming from Certified Heritage Vineyards across styles, regions, and varieties.
Members’ Wines
Certified wines from our members reflect this work in practice. Each bottle is linked back to verified old vineyards, showing what these sites can produce when they are carefully farmed and understood over time.

Wines made from old vines reflect the grower’s long-term care for the land. They exist because of the people who have worked these vineyards over many years. They speak to the terroir, the landscape, and the communities who tend them across the Cape.
